There were many things that inspired me to create this piece. The main thing that made me create this advertisement the way that I did was a NIKE add that I saw, and I thought “how cool would it be if they inserted a design into the swoosh” and this is where my idea came to add the team photo within the state of Washington. Once I added this, I wanted to capture what Washington has and what it is about, so I added a background of the blue sky and clouds. I did this because we have countless days where the sky looks like this, no matter how warm or cold it may be. I feel like this advertisement really embodies WSU, Pullman and the baseball team through each and every image.

All of the photos that I used in this assignment were either labeled for reuse or I was given permission by WSU through email to use their logo.
The idea of this design is very simple, focusing on the WSU and state of Washington. You did a great job on executing this idea, where the main focal point of the design is WSU and State of Washington. However, the vibrant colors of the blue sky do sometimes take away focus around the central picture and especially when reading the text on the bottom. The vibrant blue makes it very hard to read the dark red text, tuning down the saturation near the bottom half of the design would be a good idea. The other thing I would like to point out is though that the design embodies WSU and Washington, but it hardly gives the audience any information on Pullman. It would be best if some Pullman elements are added into the design, for example, marking down the location where Pullman is, since it is the home of WSU.

Hey Connor!
I love the design of your project. It’s very creative and clearly uses techniques we’ve learned about in class. It’s very cool how your project is driven by one of you passions, I too used to play baseball over at Arizona State so I can relate to and appreciate your project that much more. Its hard for me to really critique anything on your design but to be very picky, possibly think about using a background that people from Pullman can relate to even more. Also something to think about might be creating a design for the text to use another element we learned from class. Those are the only two things I could see you possibly messing around with! Love the design!

Hey Connor! Your images go really well together, it looks super clean. I can definitely tell you put a lot of effort into it, even going as far to add color and other things to make it look better. I also really like that you included your inspiration for the assignment. In the future, it would be awesome and even more interesting if you include personal photos from your games or whatever! I am going to try to include photos only taken by myself or friends just to make my blog more personal. I really like how all of your images go together and could honestly see it as an actually advertisement used by the team. Making the Pac12 Cougar colors was a great idea and again shows that you put extra time in to make it look even better. I’m going to check the schedule and make it to some games this year. Good luck to you and the boys!

Self-Critique: After reviewing the comments from my group members, there are a few things that I would like changed. The first, and most important thing that I think should be changed would be the overall background of the poster. I would like the change the image from just the sky to something that really resonates with the city of Pullman and with the students of WSU. By doing this, it will allow for a more “home” feel to the poster, rather than having it look like I just stuck a photo of the sky into the photo. A second thing that I can change would be the text of the games. Right now, it is difficult to see given the background, so once the background is changed, I will adjust the text accordingly to make it more visually appealing. The final, minor detail I will add would be to add additional elements that we learned so far in this course.
