Draft video

With this project, I tried to use multiple short clips of our travel (so far) along with some shot of practice and game footage in this film. I wanted to show what it is like to travel with the baseball team. One principle that I wanted to show was ‘clear hierarchy’. I attempted to show this my using longer videos of workouts and shorter videos of in game film to show what hard work does. There are still many things that I would like to add to this video sequence, but I have been unable to record them yet. During the process of editing, I made sure to place the videos in chronological order so the video didn’t seam to jump around. To emphasize the point of not jumping around, I decided to use the fade in and out effect. I used this in order to show that each video was meant to be placed next to each other. Some inspiration from this video was short cuts and b-roll from youtube videos along with horror movies. I liked this idea because I feel like it gives the video a more professional feel in my opinion. I decided to use this portion of our trip to focus on because I wanted it to feel as if I was bringing the audience on the trip and that they are there with us. I wanted them to feel like it was a first persons view of our trip.

  1. Great project Connor! First off, I really like the message of your video which showcases the hard work and effort that goes into preparing for games. Additionally, I also like that you brought the audience with you during your travels to reveal what it’s like to be on a college baseball team. My first suggestion for your video is that you add more audio to your piece to explain your position on the team, where you were traveling, who you are playing, how you train and prepare for an upcoming game and etc. Secondly, the weight lifting clips were sometimes a little too long and repetitive. Maybe shorten those clips a little or add different videos of you training such as a variety of weight lifting exercises. Finally, at the end of your video, maybe add a fade out visual effect to show the video has concluded. Overall, I really think you have a strong video that is visually very clear and of high-quality.

  2. The idea of showing a story of how the Cougar baseball team goes about their day was a unique and creative idea. Your video project properly conveyed the overall theme for your blog. I thought the video was interesting and entertaining! Some critiques I have for you are that it would tie everything in the video together if there was background music so there isn’t just quiet or ambient sound. Another thing you could do to make your video story better is to add text to introduce the video and then, to end the video. For example, it would be a good idea to add ending credits that say who filmed and edited the video. I thought that your transition elements and the way you filmed the team walking down the hallway made your video really great. Overall, your video project was visually great and I thought you did a good job on this project.

  3. Great video work you did. It really feels like I am on a trip to WSU baseball game and how it is to be a student athletics. Your sequence is clear enough to show your daily routine as an athletics. My critiques are it would be more entertaining to watch your work if you could add other training scenes beside using video doing squats only. Other thought is that it would be more an eye-catching video if you add background music. Other than that, you did great job and go Cougs

  4. For my video, there are many things that I would like changed. The first and most important one is the my audio did not upload and was unable to work. The video without audio is part of the project and I need to be able to fix that in the final draft. A second critique that I have for myself is to continue to gain more videos and to implement them correctly. A third critique that I have for myself would be to film videos from different angles to give it a more professional feel overall. The last critique that I have would be to have all of the videos blend together nice and smoothly. The main focus for me with this is audio and gaining more film.
